Bromacil Market Size is 13.45 million USD in 2018 | CAGR: 1.52%

The global bromacil market size is expected to reach 14.45 Million USD by 2023, according to a new report by Prof Research. The market is projected to record a CAGR of 1.54% during the forecast period. Globally, bromacil was mainly used as citrus herbicide and asparagus herbicide, accounting for 63.42% and 25.35% of its total consumption, respectively in 2017.

Bromacil is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H13BrN2O2, commercially available as an herbicide. Bromacil is available in granular, liquid, water soluble liquid, and wettable powder formulations. Bromacil was first registered as a pesticide in the U.S. in 1961. It is used for brush control and non-cropland areas. It works by interfering with photosynthesis by entering the plant through the root zone and moving throughout the plant. Mainly absorbed by the root, but it also exhibits herbicidal effects on broadleaf and deep-root weeds when it comes in contact with stems and leaves. The herbicide is preferably sprayed or spread dry on the soil surface just before, or during, a period of active weed growth. Bromacil is one of a group of compounds called substituted uracils. These materials are broad spectrum herbicides used for nonselective weed and brush control on non-croplands, as well as for selective weed control on a limited number of crops, such as citrus fruit and pineapple. Bromacil is also found to be excellent at controlling perennial grasses.

Jiangsu Luye and Adama are the major international players in the market of bromacil industry. The reason why these companies dominate the market is their production technological advantages, their long-term presence in the market, the relationships they have developed with downstream users over a long period of time and the brand name recognition they enjoy.

Bromacil Market Challenges:

1 Due to stricter environmental and ecological protection regulations, the environmental treatment costs are becoming more expensive and the domestic companies are already in a state of suspension.

2 The supply and price of the main raw material of the bromacil may significantly affect the bromacil market.

3 To avoid groundwater contamination, some countries banned the use of bromacil herbicide.

4 As the bromacil is a nonselective soil-residual herbicide, the use of it must be careful when spraying because it will also stop the photosynthesis of the adjacent plants therefore killing them. This may cause inconvenience to some customers, which may affect their sales.

5 Fluctuation of the United States dollar and other foreign currencies may affect the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers.

6 The development of bromacil industry may be negatively affected by many unpredictable factors such as strengthening government regulations, elevating product qualities, price fluctuations, and trade protections.

Further key findings from the study suggest:

1 Bromacil is very effective for selective weed control in pineapple and citrus crops. Pineapple and citrus crop producers may like to use it.

2 Since 2017, China has opened up the sales of bromacil in China, which will further increase the consumption of bromacil.

3 Currently, environmental problems has cause rising herbicide price, thus the existing producers may benefit from it.

In the end, although there are a lot of opportunities in the bromacil industry, Prof Research team recommends that new manufacturers who don’t have either technical advantages or downstream demand support to be extremely discreet when deciding getting into this industry.
