Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) Market Trend and 5 Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) Manufacturers Profile

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are a class of natural and biodegradable polyesters that are derived from bacterial fermentation. PHAs are regarded as a renewable resources-based alternative to petrochemical polymers. PHAs are produced either as homopolymers or copolymers. Homopolymers consist of one type of PHA throughout the entire structure – such as pure P3HB or P4HB. Copolymers on the other hand are made up of two or more different PHAs, randomly distributed throughout the structure of the polymer chain.

The global PHAs market was valued to be 11.4 million USD in 2020. The PHAs market size is anticipated to have grown with a CAGR of 37.3% in the coming years to reach 83.4 million USD in 2026 driven by the spread of environmentally friendly and biodegradable plastics, lower cost of PHAs, and policy support of government and enterprises.

The PHAs currently is used in packaging, food services, medical and cosmetics. PepsiCo, Mars Wrig, Bacardi, Genpak, Nestle, UrthPact, WinCup, Cove, Seven & I Holdings and Shiseido are the PHAs users. Here is the PHAs market share by application.
